To get rid of messenger service pop-ups in xp pro: click start, right click my computer, left click manage, (in the left column) left click the "+" sign on service application, left click services, right click messenger, left click properties, select disable in startup type, apply then restart your computer. If pop-ups still occur install an ad blocking program like adsubtract.
